Israeli real estate developer AFI Europe Monday announced it rented 11,700 square meters to U.S. video game company Electronic Arts in AFI Park 2, the second building of office compound AFI Park in capital city Bucharest.
The 11,700-sqm area covers 95% of the office building, which is under construction.
Electronic Arts signed a seven-year contract and will pay rent of EUR2.1 million a year. The rental contract can be extended for three years, AFI Europe said in a statement.
This is the largest office space transaction in Bucharest in 2013.
Office compound AFI Park, located near shopping center AFI Cotroceni, will include five class A buildings with a total lettable area of 70,000 square meters.
The first office building was inaugurated in September 2012 and was entirely rented, while the second building, with a total area of 12,200 sqm, will be completed in the second quarter of 2014.
AFI Europe, member of AFI Group, has been developing projects and investments in Central and Eastern Europe since 1997. Currently, the company develops and administers real estate projects in Romania, the Czech Republic,
Serbia, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany and Latvia. AFI Europe has been operating in Romania since 2005.
In 2012, Electronic Arts Romania reported turnover of EUR15.6 million and 329 employees, according to Finance Ministry data.
Electronic Arts is one of the world’s largest video game developers.
