Bucharest, November 8, 2017: AFI Europe Romania launches the community fund „Be a good Neighbor”, the company’s first social responsibility program, developed together with the Bucharest Community Foundation. It addresses NGOs and initiative groups and provides a total grant of 70,000 lei for up to three projects. Applications can be submitted by December 11, 2017. Detailed information about the project are available at www.afitechpark.ro/afivecinbun.
The “Be a Good Neighbor” fund aims to finance between 1 and 3 projects to contribute to the urban revitalization of the community spirit in the areas near the newest business park that AFI Europe Romania is building in Bucharest, AFI Tech Park, a 56,000 sqm GLA Class A office park, which provides an IT&C campus style environment in an urban complex with ample green areas, with high technical specifications similar to all AFI projects. The areas of intervention to be targeted by the applicants are: 13 Septembrie, Tudor Vladimirescu, Uranus, Rahova, Ferentari districts and the vicinity of Carol Park.
“Be a Good Neighbor” initiative is aimed to make people of Bucharest rediscover the neighborhood and the area where they live and enjoy everything they can offer, but it also aims to set a good example for companies that through their projects are having a real impact in community.
“In other countries in Europe, companies that get involved in community life represent an indispensable activity and it is even regulated by law. In Romania, this is currently limited to voluntary individual initiatives by business representatives. We believe that community life must be a concern for any company. This is our vision and over time we have demonstrated that our role goes beyond business boundaries, by trying to be as close as possible to the people in the communities where we chose to develop our projects. Through our program «Be a Good Neighbor», we want also to be an example for other companies, even in the real estate field, maybe one that intersects most with the life of the community”, said David Hay, CEO AFI Europe Romania.
The applications within the “Be a Good Neighbor” fund can be projects that help places in the targeted areas to look better, become more developed and create more facilities to communities living there. Moreover, projects that stimulate and support the social life of the area in an inclusive way, by animating the public spaces and bringing communities together in neighborhoods are welcomed. Other project ideas may be those that generate a better quality of life or those involving in the implementation as many members of the neighborhood as possible.
The selection process will be carried out in two stages:
- Applications and preliminary assessment:
Projects may be submitted from November 8th to December 11th, 2017
- Top 5 and winners’ choice:
The top five teams will be invited to submit the projects with complete details, from January 17th to February 9th, 2018. The selection of the winning projects will be based on a score and after the interviews with the jury, held during February 12 – 28, 2018.
Afterwards, the winners will have nine months to implement the project.
“For six years, the Bucharest Community Foundation supports groups that make positive changes in the areas where they live and do not give up. When we see how communities grow, how their members know and help each other and how they care about the city, we then know that the support we are giving is valuable. We are extremely happy to work with AFI Europe Romania on their first community fund and to grow together this community of people who do things for the city”, said Alina Kasprovschi, Executive Director, Bucharest Community Foundation.
The projects are selected with the help of an independent jury, consisting of people with experience in urban planning and regeneration, community, social and civic involvement: Oana Preda, CEO of CeRe, Ana-Maria Elian (Țoni), Urban Planner and Urban Regenerator at MKBT: Make Better, Andrei Mihail, Doctor of Anthropology, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Political Science, SNSPA, Catalin Iorgulescu, Member of the Romanian Business Services Leaders Association and Tal Roma, Business Development Manager at AFI Europe Romania.
“We want «Be a Good Neighbor» to represent the proof of a long-term investment that we bring to the neighboring communities with our new building. AFI Tech Park is more than just an office project, it represents our vision of the workplace of the future, which has to meet the increasingly frequent needs of the employees: a greater mix of facilities at their disposal, a better workspace, less time spent in traffic on the way to the office”, says Tal Roma, Business Development Manager, AFI Europe Romania.
Details about the application process, the calendar, selection and eligibility criteria are available on the program’s dedicated website: www.afitechpark.ro/afivecinbun.
